The functioning of the defense system is linked to an adequate supply of nutrients (micro- and macronutrients). Since the individual components consist mainly of rapidly forming new cells, a good supply of micronutrients is important. Vitamin C, vitamin E, riboflavin (vitamin B₂), zinc, selenium, copper and manganese help protect cells from oxidative stress.
